“In 1993, a convicted murderer was executed. His body was given to science, segmented, and photographed for medical research. In 2011, we used photography to put it back together.” via Photographs - 12:31
This is such an incredible project. It reminded me of what Robin Sloan calls the flip flop, the process of taking something physical and making it digital then using that digital version to make something physical again.
Sloan had a great post explaining this concept here: Dance the flip flop.

"Timeline is a Time Machine
That is what Timeline wants to become. But if Timeline is to succeed as a time machine, it has to look the way people want to remember their lives. We don’t want to look back at our lives and instead of remembering events with fondness be distracted or dissapointed by how terrible our photos looked. People are vain. We want to look good or at least have our photos look cool."

— This is the vanity explanation for why Facebook bought Instagram. Of course, this is just part of it. The real reason is they needed a soul transplant. Here’s my take on why they needed emotion and why this matters for environmentalism.

Facebook Paid Instagram $1 Billion for Emotion. What’s It Worth to the Environment?
